HUD and Acceptance Tags
There are two very important documents associated with your manufactured home that you need to have. Many don't know they exist, their significance, or their location. One is the Certificate of Compliance from the manufacturer. It can be located anywhere in the home. Likely spots are on the cover of the electrical panel (shown), on the inside of a kitchen cabinet door, or inside a closet. The information on this certificate includes the manufacturer, date manufactured, model, serial number, and factory installed equipment. This info is required for insurance , financing, title, appraisal, sale, and other applications. The other "document" is the HUD approval label commonly found attached to the siding on the back or side of the home. This label serves as proof the home met HUD specs at the time it was produced and serves as a certificate of occupancy. Banks often refuse to finance homes if this label is not present. It starts out red but, as you can see from the pictures, can wear or be painted over. You should locate these and take some clear pictures to tuck away. They may disappear if your siding is replaced, new cabinets put in your kitchen, etc.
